If it weren’t for the lives damaged and lost, or the murder of Michael Francke looming in the background, this would be what they used to call a French bedroom farce. I mean, here was the governor, Neil Goldschmidt himself, sitting in his office in Salem, getting calls from this girl – actually not a girl any longer but a distraught 28-year-old woman, Elizabeth – screaming at him, “You raped me, you owe me!”
So how did Goldschmidt get vetted to be Carter's Sec. of Transportation? Was the FBI so incompetent that it couldn't uncover his crimes and payoffs? Or, did it discover them and decide to "bank" the info for future use in case Goldschmidt got to a higher office? He had been discussed as a potential VP nominee if I remember correctly. A Freedom of Information request might prove interesting.
Are there people in power positions currently that are tied to the Francke murder and Goldschmidt cover up/blackmail? I almost need to sit down and create a visual representation of all these connections and cover ups because it’s a lot!! What were the police covering by having Frank Gable as a patsy?? I think I need to read your book!
